Any place in the world is unique. You can tell so many things about all the countries and each of them are special in their own ways. However, Australia has no typical way to lure people, most of the things about this country are unique and that is why this place happens to be a tourist haven. Country and a continent:
Australia is a country and a continent as well. This is the smallest continent in the world. This is the only country that makes a continent. Initially, when the British government had no means of control over the convicts, they were sent to Australia to work in the colonies. The country was inhabited by the Aborigines, of which 90% is killed now. Also, at least 25% of Australians have convicts for ancestors. With this history, it is quite surprising that how hard the citizens worked to make the entire country literate, which is one of the main reasons that the per capita income of Australia is higher than any other country in the world.

Crowded Coastal Regions:
Almost all the people in Australia, except the miners and ranchers, live on the coastal area. ¾ of the lands of Australia are not fit for agriculture and the interior parts are deserts and have harsh conditions, which make the people to settle along the coast.

Animals:
For every person in Australia, there are 10 sheep, which make this country the largest exporter of lamb and meat in the world. Also, the animals of Australia can be found only here. Emu, Kangaroos, koala bears are a few examples. The reason that as Australia is not connected to any other country, the animals could not have migrated and cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Also, there are 4000 species of ants and 350 species of termites found in this country.

Cleanest air:
Tasmania is proved to have the cleanest air in the entire world. This cannot be taken as that the air in each area of world is tested with samples. However, in case of the populated areas, this is the truth. While there is very little pollution produced by this island, it is also the tendency of the air to make the pollution of the rest of the country move towards the opposite direction, makes it people in this place to relish the lungs with purest air.

Is Australia an island?
While Australia happens to be a country and continent, it is basically the largest island in the world. However, because it is a continent, it cannot be called an island. If that can be, then every other continent can be called an island too. Did you know this earlier? Majority of the answers will be a NO!
